“Nope.”

“You are scared it”ll hurt her. She’s doing you a great favour.”

“Father, I’ve got things to do. The companies will have to be merged. There’s a meeting this afternoon with the heads of the two companies. Purity will soon start working under me and I’ve got to get things ready. I can’t start talking to Tricia now.” Jeremy explained.

“Hmph! I’ll see what I can do.”

“Becareful with her.”

“Why she’d hurt me?”

“I don’t think so. Starting to hate her already. I will murder her if she does anything to you.”

“Funny you. Then why are you sending me there?”

“I don’t want to see her.”

“You don’t want to see another woman ’cause of Purity? I can see you are getting to love her.” Edwin stood up to leave.

Jeremy silently watched him.

“One more thing. Concerning that divorce thing I mentioned, it isn’t what I have in mind. I bet when you two are married, you’d never want to look at any woman.”

Jeremy had wanted to reply his father, but the man was already out of the living room. Jeremy rested on the couch. A million thoughts flooded his mind. What was his father talking about? He really never meant it when he had told him about divorce? One of his ploys of getting him together with Purity? He hadn’t even told her. What was this man plotting? What if his illness wasn’t real? He and Purity had spent some time alone, he might have told her and instructed her not to mention anything to him. Was she being greedy and selfish? If they got married and divorced, she’d get a lot from him. Purity couldn’t be after the money, still he could trust no one. Not even his father. This had just added to his troubles. He’d confront Purity, then visit the hospital to enquire of his father’s health. He got to be sure.

His cell phone buzzed in his pocket, dragging him out of his reverie. It was his P.A calling.

“The meeting’s about to begin.”

Damn! He had forgotten all about it. “I’ll be there in a jiffy.” he hung up and dashed out of the house.

::::
“Jeremy, my boy.” Aaron called out happily.
Jeremy turned around and saw the familiar face calling him. He grinned on seeing him. “Mr. Aaron Theodore.” he walked to meet with him.

“Congratulations.” Aaron and Jeremy shook hands. “You really did good out there. I’m impressed.”

“Thank you, sir.” Jeremy humbly replied.

“Welcome on board.” Aaron patted his shoulder.

“Lets talk over lunch.” Jeremy requested.

Aaron agreed.

They walked to the dining room. Before they got there, they had received lots of handshake from different persons that had attended the meeting. Jeremy was mostly congratulated and Aaron felt so proud of his soon-to-be son-in-law. They were now going to be partners. A family business.

“What would you like to take?” the waitress asked.

“Can we go over the menu?” Jeremy requested.

“Yeah. Lemme go and get it.” the waitress answered and left them.

“Jeremy, I’m glad you agreed to help us.”

“Sir, there’s no need to thank me again and again. I’m really happy I did. I could help and offered it. I am glad you accepted it.”

“Wow! You are-”

“Here, it is.” the waitress interrupted.

Jeremy took it from her and proceeded to hand it over to Aaron.

“No, no. You can pick.” Aaron refused taking it.

“Alright.” Jeremy scanned through the menu and made his choice. “Is fried chicken, macaroni and cheese okay with you?”

Aaron nodded.

“We’ll have that,” Jeremy said to the waitress.

She nodded and strolled to get their order. In no time, she was back, served them and left.

“I haven’t really come up with a name for the new company we’ve formed.” Jeremy broke the silence.

“Me neither,” Aaron replied, swallowing.

“What if we choose ‘Theodore’s&Broderick’s Enterprise’?”

“Hmm.” Aaron nodded. “Nice choice. But the company now belongs to you and my daughter. We, the fathers are no more in control. Something like, ‘JP Business Enterprise.'”

“Wow. Cool name. What does ‘JP’ stand for?” Jeremy asked, pretending not to know.

“Are you kidding me? Jeremy and Purity of course.” Aaron was full of smiles.

Jeremy really liked the new name. Why hadn’t he thought of it? JP. Jeremy and Purity.
“I accept it. I like it.”

“That’s good.”

They continued eating.

“Where is Purity? She was supposed to be here.” Jeremy asked. He really wanted to see her. Never been with her or talked about issues relating to business only when he had stomped into her office the previous day.

“Oh. Should be home with Prudence. She really didn’t want to attend this meeting.”

Jeremy was surprised. “Why? Am I reason?”

“Aaron chuckled. “Not at all. She had to spend time with her mama.”

“Oh, that’s good.” the lurch he felt in his heart was no more there. He was scared, thinking that she’d ran away from him. They still had something to talk about. “Sir-”

Aaron raised a finger. “Don’t call me sir. Call me papa or father.” he grinned.

That was the last thing Jeremy expected to hear from this man. This pending marriage between him and Purity was this serious? He hoped within himself not to shatter their hopes. “Alright, father. I want to ask about Purity. I have observed how humble you are and your wife too- mother.” Never called another woman ‘mother’ after his mum passed away. He had to get used to it. “Purity is so different. Why?”

Aaron shook his head sadly. “I must confess; I don’t really know why. Her mother pampered her when she was still a little girl and taught her so many things. As she turned to a teenager, she withdrew herself. She started acting so disrespectful. At that moment, I decided to have full control over her life, I brought her up with an iron hand. But at certain times, I had to be reasonable and abide by her wish. She has manners but doesn’t know how to practise them. I am glad I can control her, but not for long.”

“She has them. Saw the way she spoke to my father.”

“And you are a daring young man. I believe you can handle her very well. You are the man for her.”

“I’ve been with different ladies, but never came across one like your daughter. What baffles me is the fact that she’s pure but doesn’t act like it. All her life, I am the first and only person she has kissed.”

“Really? I never knew you two have shared something. Its a good sign. She has phobia for men anyway. Help her, please.” Aaron pleaded.

“Not to worry, father. I’ll see to that. She’s my responsibility now.” What had he just done? Promised to handle Purity? He was going to confront her regarding what his father had told him and now, he was going to make her love him. And he too would have to fall for her. Loving someone wasn’t the problem here. He had always wished to find love and happiness, but not with a woman like Purity. She was innocent and all that, but she had bad manners, how’s he gonna fix her? He had already given his word and there was no going back.

“Thank you, son. You’ll never regret this.”

Jeremy deeply sighed. “I hope so."

Three friends Akpors,
Rukewe and Oghene
decided to go for a picnic.
Rukewe packs
the picnic basket with drinks
and sandwiches. Oghene
carried the basket and they
set out for the
park 100km away. It takes
them 2 hours to
get there. When they
arrived, Rukewe
quickly spread the mat and
set out the
sandwiches. After checking
around,
Oghene found out that
Rukewe did
not grab the bottle opener.
They then begged Akpos to
make the 4
hour trip to and fro for the
opener.
He disagreed.
“You’ll finish the sandwiches
before I return,”
“No we won’t”, assured
Rukewe.
After some more cajoling
from them,
Akpos reluctantly sets out
for the opener.
After 5 hours, there was no
sign of
Akpors. They decided to wait
for another
3 hours. Still no sign of
Akpors.
Oghene and Rukewe after
waiting on Akpors for
more than 8 hours were
very
hungry, so they decided to
take one
sandwich each. As they were
about to
eat, Akpors jumps out from
behind a rock
screaming:
“I KNEW IT! I’M NOT GOING

EPISODE 10

The knocking sounds jarred on her head.
Slowly she crawled from unconsciousnessto
full
awareness.
The kpo kpo kpo sounds persisted, till she
could
endure no longer. She threw herself this
side and
that on the bed and got up.
She opened the door and Stella’s huge
frame came
into view, covering the door space.
She felt like giving her the quick, face-
covering
slap called mkpuchi.
Stella walked into the room, looking round
the
space like an officer on inspection.
‘Okon told me you were vomiting in the
morning,
hope you cleaned up the bathroom.’
‘I washing it.’ Mma’s response came too
briskly.
Stella looked at her and pulled a face. ‘You
had
better.’
‘By the way, what do you think you are
doing still
in bed by this time?’
Mma’s face tightened the more.
‘How?’
‘I just returned from the market and very
tired.
Follow me, I’ll show you the things to do.’
‘I not doing anything till I eating. 12
o’clock and I
not eating morning food.’
Stella stared at her, her cheeks pulled down
in
disdain.
‘You want food?’
‘Yes.’
‘Do you not do morning chores before
eating in the
village where you come from?’
‘I doing. I sweeping the compound, I
fetching
borehole and even getting grass for the
goats but I
still eating before 12. 12 o’clock and we
started
talking afternoon food sef.’
‘You are silly. If you are really hungry, you
better
go into the kitchen and pick the broom by
the door
and start to sweep.’
‘I not sweeping anything.’
Stella gave a short ominous chuckle.
‘My dear, you will not only sweep, there are
dirty
dishes in the sink too for you to wash.’
Mma left her in the room and walked
downstairs.
She asked Okon to show her where to buy
akara
and bread.
‘Ha! Stella no give you food?’
She shook her head.
Okon hissed. ‘My dear, no mind her. Even
me,
sometimes I no dey eat till 3 o’clock.’
‘3 o’clock?’
‘I dey tell you. Follow me, make I find small
bread
for you, I dey sure say the woman wey dey
fry
akara for Hospital Road go done close by
now.’
‘Thanking you, my brother.’
She stayed with Okon till Richard drove in.
It was
some minutes past six.
He asked what she was doing downstairs
and Mma
threw her mouth open in narration. She
didn’t
spare anything but she didn’t add a lie.
Okon stood aside, nodding fully to all she
said as
though he had been there all along.
When Richard told Stella she had been
suspended
for two months and she dropped to her
knees in
plea, the hard lumps of anger crowding
Mma’s
heart started to dissolve.
‘Please forgiving her, Nnanna, please.’
Nnanna didn’t listen.
Stella was still kneeling and begging when
the
curtain parted and Cynthia walked in.
‘What’s going on here?’
‘Can you imagine Stella denied her food all
day
and she had to share half loaf of bread with
Okon,
can you imagine that?’
Cynthia turned to Stella. ‘Why would you
not give
her food?’
she asked, her disappointment fully
showing on
her face.
Stella didn’t say a word. She appeared
unable to
believe Cynthia would ask her that
question.
‘That’s quite inhumane of you, Stella. She
is a
guest in this house and you have no right
to deny
her food, not in her condition even.’
‘I’m very sorry, Madam,’ Stella murmured.
‘Very
sorry.’
Cynthia sighed and turned to Richard.
‘Richard, I
think you have to pardon her this one
time.’
Richard said nothing. He dropped on the
couch
and held his chin on one hand.
Cynthia looked at Mma. Her head was fully
bowed
as though afraid of Cynthia’s eyes.
‘You, what is your name?’
‘Nwa-amulu-na-mma, Ma.’
‘What?’
‘You can calling me Mma, Ma.’
‘Ok. So have you eaten anything now?’
Mma was nodding and shaking her head at
the
same time.
‘Whenever you are hungry you can go into
the
kitchen and make yourself something to
eat.’
A quick bow. ‘Ok. Ma.’
Cynthia turned to Stella. ‘Stella, if you feel
you
can’t make her food, at least you can show
her how
to make herself something to eat.’
Stella nodded.
‘Tell me if we lack anything.’
‘Nothing for now, Ma.’
‘Good. Now apologize to your Master.’
‘I’m very sorry, Sir, it won’t happen again.’
‘Get up and go inside,’ Richard ordered.
‘Thank you, Sir.’ She walked away.
Mma turned to leave too.
‘Hey –‘ Cynthia paused, turning briefly to
Richard.
‘What’s that her name again?’
‘Mma.’
‘Mma, have Richard told you you will be
going with
me to the hospital tomorrow?’
‘Yes, Ma.’
‘Good. You can go in and sleep now.’
Mma left and Richard asked her how her
day had
gone.
He was impressed with the way she
handled
matters this evening and he showed it by
kissing
her when she sat down beside him.
He knew and liked her sense of control,
subtle and
effectual.
Later that night, Mma was on her way to
the
bathroom when she saw the silhouette of a
figure
in the hallway.
She followed it and saw Stella with one ear
pressed
to the door of the room Richard and
Cynthia slept
in.
She could make out the low yelp-like
sounds of
ecstasy from inside the room.
Stella was so immersed she didn’t even
know
someone was behind her.
Mma quietly walked back to her room.

in the apartment of her elder sister which know as mother and the others discussing on how to raise fund and telling her all about university life while she should be careful and boys in the university. she is happy that at this point her sisters were not complaining on how to care for her needs and she reassured them that she is going to be a good girl and there is a boy name Desmond....

Monalisa: my baby;you have proven yourself to be a child every mother will want to have. we all thank God,that you are able to write your examination successfully and coming out in flying colours. you will be going to the university, even if i do not have enough but the little i and your sisters have,we will give to you to make sure that you graduate and become somebody

Peace: you know;university is a place, where you meet people of different class and those who will lead you astray. you should know that whatever,we give to yo is all the best that we can,is not that we are wicked or we want yo deprive you of anything

Vina: there is my potential barrister;do you know that your niece;sister Nancy child said,'she want to be like you' so please don't let her down by becoming the opposite of your present self. being decent;that doesn't make you a fool and uncivilised

Stephanie: i am not party crazy during my secondary days;it wouldn't be now but anyway,i will always try to do what is right;stay away from bad friends

Nancy: if ever;what you say from your mouth is always what comes to passed then there will not be need to pray to God. so yo should always have God at the back of your mind, always pray to God and asked for his guidance and protection because in everything you do without God;there is no good result

Monalisa: as the last of our parent;we want you to become somebody and make our parent proud;even though,we don't have any brother;we are better people,we have been able to achieve all the things that boys could do. i am a banker;Nancy is a medical doctor;Peace is an engineer and Vina, will be a newscaster when she graduate. you see we are able to become somebody in the midst of all this. you should say,'you are unable to make it because you are a girl or you came from a poor family. those are no excuses to failure,it is your determination that makes you successful. like they say a word is enough for the wise. it is only success that is celebrated not failure

Stephanie: i have heard all that you told me;i will try to do my best and put my complete trust in God. i cross my heart that i will make all of you proud and also show that boys are not the most important in every family, that;what boys can do,woman can do it better

Peace: is alright;stop making promises. when you are going to school?

Stephanie: in a fortnight

Vina: are you staying in campus or off campus?

Stephanie: i have gotten accommodation already
Monalisa: at where and paid for it?
Stephanie: the house belong to Tosan's father;Anita's uncle. Tosan's father want her to live in that house, since it is big,she asked three of us to live with her;including her other cousin from her maternal side

Peace: how many of you;will be living there?

Stephanie: just five of us,Tosan;Tina;Ann;Anita and i

Nancy: how big is the house?

Stephanie: it has four room

Vina: and you are five?
Stephanie: yes;i will be sharing one of the rooms with Tosan's cousin, that is Tina
Nancy: you have to be careful
Vina: i know Anita very well;she is nice and a decent girl and that of her two another friends;is just that i don't know Tina that much but you still have to be careful
Monalisa: that is alright;let those have ear hear;Stephanie do you want to go with anyone of them?

Stephanie: no;i just want to get my things and rest before i will finally leave,i will pay everyone a visit before leaving
Monalisa: that means you will gather all the things you want to take along
Peace: there is no problem with that
Vina: who is dropping her at school?
Nancy: i will do that

Stephanie: there is no need for that;i will go ahead
Monalisa: if you say so

TRUST. [Read it]

Once there was two friends whose friendship was seemingly inseparable to every beholding eye. They promise to defend each other in all life vicissitudes and to protect each other from any impending and contigencial dangers. One day the duo; john and jerry set out on a hunting escapade.when they apparently got to the heart of the forest, a ferrocious looking wolf appeared from literally nowhere.John who was a good climber, climbed a nearby mahogany effortlessly at the speed of light.Jerry could not dare climb a tree and running would be a wasted, futile attempt. So, he laid down motionless as though he was dead. The wolf came, sniffed its snout all over him and left without much ado.John came down and the friends hugged themselves overwhelmed by the fact that they were alife. After a long hysterical laughter, John asked uneasingly: ''why was the wolf sniffing your ear again and again and left without hurting you?''
Jerry replied, ''He was whipering something to my ear.He said i should trust no one!''

wisdom quote [Read it]

Some journalist came to visit Bill Gates and during the interview they asked him "Sir, how did you feel when you made your first 1 billion dollar? The billionaire turned right but saw no one. All his workers had gone on their daily 1 hour break but turning left he saw one diligent worker moping the floor. He called the worker, wrote something on a check and gave it to the man. The man took the check and as he saw his name with 1 billion dollars, the mopping stick immediately fell from his hands,he jumped up so high that he almost hit the ceiling and then ran out of the house shouting like a mad man. Then bill gates turned to the jourmalist and said "That was how i felt when i made my first 1 billion dollars.
Prayer: God will send such a helper to you and that you will be at the right place and time to receive it. Type "Amen" to claim it.

Church Offering [Read it]

Yesterday, I was sitting in the church, and it was time for offering so the offering basket was passed around. Despite the Pastor's charge for good offering, I still hurriedly and secretly pulled out N50 from my pocket and dropped it.

Just then, the person behind me tapped me on the shoulder and handed me a N1,000 note. I smiled, then put d N1,000 majestically in the basket and passed it on. I turned and thanked the man profusely for being so generous.

He replied, "Don't mention my dear, after all it fell off your pocket."
Whaaaat

I'm still looking for the pastor to collect my money back

HEAR MY STORY
Episode 5&6

Episode 5

After the whole thing, Bode started begging me.I could see he
actually regretted, but the deed had been done already.I
told him to go,i just didnt want to see him.
He left.
I locked the door behind him & started weeping.I wept till my
eyeballs turned red & my head began to ache.
I was confused,i didnt know what to do,i was just
weeping.I couldnt even pray,i never thought i could do such
a thing,i thought i was strong enough to stand.Oh my
God!...How wrong i was!!.
The next day was friday,i couldnt go to school.I had
headache,so i called my HOD to inform her i would be
absent. She promised to tell the Principal & wished me quick
recovery.
I couldnt attend the burial nor singing practise on saturday,i
just locked myself up in my room & was weeping from time
to time.
On sunday,i was unusually absent from church. Some choir
members came to check on me after service.
They met me under my blanket, shivering. Now i had
developed emergency fever.
One of them quickly called Pastor Williams who rushed down
to my place with his wife.
They took me to the health centre. I was administered malaria drugs & injections & was told to come on monday & tuesday for more injections.
The Williams brought me back home & asked if i wouldnt mind
to go with them to their place,so i wouldnt be d only one at
home,i said no, that i would be fine. So,they left after praying
for me.
I slept off & woke up late in d night. Now i felt like eating
something.I looked at my phone,it was 11.17pm.
I got up,ate bread with fruit juice & went back to bed.
I couldnt sleep.I was turning from right to left, left to right
on the bed.
Again, i remembered "Let him that thinketh he standeth
take heed lest he fall" 1 Cor 10:12.
I started weeping all over again.I thought i was standing, now i have
fallen.I so much trusted myself.
I opened my mouth & began to pray "Lord Jesus,i have
disappointed u, pls forgive me,have mercy on me.I am
sorry. Now i know better. Help me Lord. Forgive me Lord.Have
mercy on me...."
I didnt even know when i slept off.
When i woke up,i knew i had a dream in which i saw Pastor
Mrs Williams talking to me, but i couldnt remember a single
word of anything she said.
As i was trying to recollect what she was telling me in the
dream,i heard a gentle voice in my spirit "Go and open up
to her"....
"Ahhhh!.How on earth would i be able to do that?.I cant
Lord!.I cant!!.".
I didnt hear d voice again,at least at that moment. The next
thing i heard was a knock on my door.
Who is that?.I spoke softly.
I didnt hear any response from the other end.
I moved to d door,unlocked it & opened.
Guess who was standing there....
HEAR MY STORY..

Episode 6

It was Pastor Mrs.She was on her way to school that monday
morning as she taught in a primary school at Oyan, but she
quickly stopped by at my place to check on me.
She came with a basket containing pepper soup, jollof
rice, vegetable soup and obe ila alasepo (okro soup with stew
ingredients).
She said she didnt know the one i would love to eat,but i
should try and take d pepper soup as it would deal with that
malaria fever. She told me to warm them as i could see she
brought them out of d freezer that morning, and couldnt wait
to warm them before leaving the house to prevent her from
getting late to school.
I collected the basket from her, appreciated her and sat on
my plastic chair.
"Can i drop u at the health centre for your injection?,sinc
e its
on d same route to my school".She asked.
"I'm not ready yet ma,i will take a bike.Thank you ma".
"It's a pleasure my dear.So,how are u feeling now?."
"I'm better today ma".I answered.
"Oh!.Thank God.My mind was with you throughout the night.I
really couldnt sleep soundly.I started blaming myself for
allowing you to stay here all alone,i should have forced you to
come with us yesterday. Hope you slept well,and...."
I switched off!..I was hearing in my spirit "Open up to
her!.Open up to her!!".
Then i heard another voice contrary to that one saying "Dont
try it!.you'll disappoint her.you can see how she loves and
cares for you, she'll withdraw the gesture..What if...."
Suddenly,i felt Pastor Mrs' hand on my shoulder.
She tapped me and said "Are you okay?.I've called you
twice, but you didnt respond.
What is bothering you?.What are you thinking of?.Feel free to
share it with me, I'm a mother.."
Before she could finish her sentence, i cut in "Nothing ma".
"Hunhun!.Dont tell me there's nothing when obviously
there's something. That's a lie, and i dont expect you as a child
of God to tell one, if you dont want to share it, just say you dont
want to share it,instead of saying there's nothing when
there's something."
I was dumbfounded.I didnt know when i said "Okay ma,i
will tell u later".
"That's better my dear.See you later then.Hurry up so you can go
for your injection on time.Make sure you eat before you go." She
said.
"Okay ma.Thanks Mum."
She left.
I got to the health centre that morning and saw a choir member. She was
surprised to see me,and also to hear that i didnt attend the
burial of Bode's dad.
When she asked "why?" i told her i was sick, but didnt tell
her beyond that.
As i was getting back home,i met Bode coming out of the
corpers' quarters.
I was a bit shy to look at his face, remembering what
happened between us.I was no longer free with him.I wish i
didnt see him.
He gave me souvenirs of his dad's burial, and said his mum
sent her greetings, and that she promised to come and visit
me as soon as she could go out.
I took those things from him and thanked him.
Then he said "Sis Sewa,i'm indeed very sorry for what
happened last week. Its the devil.Pls forgive me.."
He wanted to hold my hand, but i didnt allow him.
I said "Its fine!,Its fine!!".Just go."

Johnny says, "None." The teacher asks, "Why?" Johnny says, "Because the shot scared them all off." The teacher says, "No, two, but I like how you're thinking." Johnny asks the teacher, "If you see three women walking out of an ice cream parlor, one is licking her ice cream, one is sucking her ice cream, and one is biting her ice cream, which one is married?" Before she could finish speaking, Mrs. Bernard
landed a heavy slap on her face.
“Where is the money?” she asked again, looking
furious.
Mrs. Bernard’s raised voice brought Derek out of his
room.
“Mum, what’s going on?” Derek asked as he
joined
them in living room.
“Ask her, my son, let her answer you.” Mrs Bernard
said, gesturing at Mansa.
“Mansa what is it?” Derek turned to ask her.
Mansa who was still in tears answered
“Mum’s money is missing and she thinks I’m the
one who took it”.
“Mansa, did you take it? Please tell me” Derek
asked.
“No Derek, I didn’t touch her money” Mansa
answered.
Looking at her, Derek could tell she really knew nothing about the missing money.
He had to intervene on her behalf. He asked her to
go
to her room while he sorted things out with his
mother.
“Mum, how much are we talking about here? Derek
asked his mother after Mansa had left.
“Why are you asking me that? I don’t know why
you
keep standing up for this girl!” Mrs Bernard
responded. “Come on Mum, just tell me” Derek asked her
again.
“5,000 Naira” Mrs Bernard grudgingly answered.
“5,000 Naira? Was that not the money you told
Chris
to take from your purse this morning for the DSTV subscription? Derek asked.
Mrs Bernard’s face dropped as she remembered
that
she had actually already given the money she
claimed was missing to Chris that morning.
She was, however, too embarrassed and proud to admit her error. So she decided to stick to her
story,
even though she knew she was lying and falsely
accusing the poor girl. She insisted the money
she
was looking for was not the same one she had told
Chris to take.
Derek didn’t believe her. He knew his mother well
enough to know when she’s hiding something or
lying.
But he couldn’t tell his mother that she was lying. She
was already furious. He couldn’t afford to have her
more angry than she already was.
Derek told her he was going to pay the money
and
that he was going have a talk with Mansa. He said that just to calm his mother down.
Mansa was going through very difficult times both
at
church and at home. Apparently, her foster
mother
had been reporting to the church Elders how that she
had been stealing at home.
Even though she was innocent, this rumour about
Mansa’s supposed behaviour had quickly spread
throughout the church.
Living under Mrs Bernard’s roof was virtually becoming hell for her.
She hardly smiled these days. In fact, she cried
everyday.
Derek was the only person that stood by her
through
those difficult times. She prayed and prayed, all day and night. It
seemed
like things only got worse as she prayed.
She was no longer comfortable at church as
everyone was talking behind her back, calling her
a thief.
Soon, Mrs. Bernard and her two sons had to travel
for a 3-day church outreach. Mansa was left alone
at
the house.
On the first night of their departure, Mansa locked up
the doors of the house and went to bed.
Around 2:00 am, she woke up to hear footsteps
in the
hallway. She came out of her room to find out
who it was but to her surprise, no one was there.
She was so sure she had heard someone in the
hallway, she went to check the doors. The house
was
the way she left it, all the doors were locked,
nothing had changed. She concluded she must have
heard
the sound in her sleep.
She then returned to her room and within a few
minutes was fast asleep.
Suddenly, her door opened slowly and a masked man
dressed in black slowly eased himself into the
room.
Mansa didn’t hear anything as the person crept
towards her bed.
She only woke up when her nose was covered with a
handkerchief. She tried to fight but within a few
seconds, she became too weak to struggle. There
was
a substance in the handkerchief that made her
weak, helpless and vulnerable.
The unknown masked man then striped her
naked
and raped her right there and then.
He finished and went away, leaving Mansa
bleeding profusely.
She had been a virgin, until that night

Sex is the ersatz or substitute religion of the 20th Century.

~ Malcolm MuggeridgeRelated

Where we were going turned out to be over twenty hours away. The truck stopped twice, i guess to refuel. I was treated to moans from the three people on the floor when they came to. They didn't know i was there, so i kept quiet. In that time, i thought of what was ahead. If i live through this, what would happen then? I didn't know. So i kept my thoughts on simply living through this. The rain from the gun shut wound had dulled.
.
The truck finally came to a stop and when the door to the cabin opened, it was dark. A powerful flashlight was in Ken's hand as he mentioned me to get down. He unstrapped the tired figures and carried their trussed forms out. He placed them on the ground. I could hear the sound of an occasional fast-moving vehicle somewhere nearby. We were close to a major road, possibly a highway judging by the density of the forest around us.
.
Ken went to the driver's cabin and i saw a ramp come out of the truck. These people are efficient. With my twin brother heading the outfit, they had to be. Minutes later, he had the car on the ground.
.
"This is what we would do, i will drive all five of us to the road, and when we get to where i will stop, i will have there three assume driver and passengers positions and i will rush the car off the highway. I'll be stopping where the highway is steeped on both sides. Trust me; it would be the perfect accident. No survivors. It's not the first such accident i'll orchestrate."
.
My heart went cold at those words but i didn't know what to do. It wasn't easy knowing my brother would die nor was it easy knowing the innocent Omobolanle would die. Mary-Anne could go to hell for all i cared. I wished there was something i could do to stop this ruthless machine of a human being. I was no match for him. Even without the gunshot wound on my shoulder. I sat with him in front; the other three were propped at the back, trussed. He drove off and almost a half-hour later, he stopped. No vehicle passed at that hour. I got out at his command. He untied the weak trio and positioned them. Each of them struggled weakly. Tango was the driver, Omobolanle his passenger. Mary-Anne sat at the back. The two in front had their seat belts strapped on.
.
I watched as he revved the car, obviously pressing on Tango's leg. He had pushed the car to the edge and he wanted the engine working when he pushed. I could see from the car's headlights beam that it was a very sharp steep more like a precipice. Any slight shove and the car would tripple. It had a couple of trees on it. But he had chosen where the path would not be blocked by any tree till it got to the bottom, metres below. He made to shut the door and walk towards the back of the car for what would be the final push.
.
As he made his way to the back, i knew the brother in me wouldn't bear to watch his own brother murdered. I lunged at him with all the strength i could muster. He didn't see it coming and that counted. He staggered towards the front of the car, where the precipice began. I didn't see that he still had not shut the door completely. As he staggered backwards, he pulled the door with him for stability. And it worked. He stood. For the two seconds it took the car to tripple into the precipice due to the force of the pull on the door.
.
Ken fell with the car still holding the door as he trippled alongside with the car.
.

A kangaroo kept getting out of his enclosure at the zoo. Knowing that he could hop high, the zoo officials put up a ten foot fence. He was out the next morning, just roaming around the zoo.

A twenty foot fence was put up. Again he go out.

When the fence was forty feet high, a camel in the next enclosure asked the kangaroo,
“How high do you think they`ll go?”

The kangaroo said, “About a thousand feet, unless somebody locks the gate at night!”Related

Brown: why do you want to forget about Tina?what did she do this time?
Desmond: she said she is in love with me(he throw one of the bottle of wine to the floor)ma;am i a bad person?
Brown: you are not

Desmond: why do i always end up making people that love me cried?first it was my mom;then it was Gina;now its Tina. why can't i just reciprocate their love back?
Brown: is not your fault;is just your feelings
Desmond: if it is my feelings, then it is definitely my fault. why do i have so many pains in my heart?why is it that the only shoulder am used to crying on is gone
Brown: i don't get you
Desmond: Stephie is in love with Tunde
Brown: what?i thought both of you are in love(enter Tosin/Alfred)
Desmond: she is not;at first i was deceiving myself that she is in love with me but when i got to her house this evening,i realised that she was even really in love with Michael and adding insult to injury, she said she is in love with Tunde and consider me as.....(enter Georgina)
Brown: is it now;back then or when?
Desmond: i don't know,i don't want to know
Brown: is alright my son;i know Stephanie care about you even if she doesn't love you
Georgina: you see how stupid you are?so you were thinking that Stephanie will fall in love with you?you such a loser
Tosin: you are so impossible here you are drinking yourself to death. what are you drinking over?why not accept the fact that Stephanie does it love, she love someone else?
Desmond: i am not crying because she doesn't love me because i don't love her
Alfred: then why are you crying because Tina is in love with you?
Georgina: which Tina;are you talking about?
Alfred: Tunde's friend that is the Tina we are talking about
Georgina: she is love with Desmond?that witch,i will deed with her and you,you are worthless
Desmond: yes i am worthless because i am so blind that i can't see(he pull the glass to his mouth) what a worthless boy,i am. what are you doing in my house at this devil hour?
Georgina: i came to tell you that i will be paying my family a visit
Desmond: fine by me sweetheart
Georgina: you really a drunk (exit Desmond/Georgina)
Alfred: i feel for Desmond and all the pains he is going through right now
Tosin: but how is that Stephanie is in love with Tunde
Alfred: that is one misery i just can't solve but all i know is even if she is in love with Tunde, she and Desmond might end up together
Tosin: you are one funny boy because i know both of them are not in love
Alfred: funny you too. just mark my words;with what i saw today there is no doubt that Desmond is already in love with Stephanie and Stephanie can not bear to see Desmond get hurt that is what we call true love. i wish i and Ann are like that because even if both of they end up together they will make a perfect couple
Tosin: go and sleep Alfred so you will rest your brain
Alfred: alright oh!but when it happen just give me a call to tell me;you said it

Tosin: one crazy boy(curtain)
Stephanie: Tina;how are you
Tina: Ann;are you the one that pack my clothes on the rope?
Ann: it wasn't me it was Stephanie
Tina: alright
Ann: aren't you going to asked here where she drop them?
Tina: why should i asked her?did i beg her to pack my clothes?
Ann: at least;she did that without you asking that from her,so he deserve a thanks
Tina: oh my God!i forget, she really need my thanks for stealing my possession
Tosan: and what is that possession again?
Tina: sister;can we no just talk about it
Tosan: why wouldn't we?we are family right?
Tina: yes we are but this family will never hold if you don't sent Stephanie packing
Anita: what for?why should she leave, when she did nothing?
Tina: if she doesn't leave then i will leave
Tosan: what is wrong with you?what do you want me to tell mom?
Tina: then pick between the both of us
Tosan: don't put me in a tight situation. i don't want to
Tina: then ready to tell your mother anything
Anita: stop this madness already
Ann: Tina;is that what you really want
Tina: yes;that is what i want because i can't stay under same roof with such a prostitute. are you ready to pick Tosan?

Tosan: TINA;I can't you two are important to me
Stephanie: is alright Tosan;she is your sister, you have to pick her. am just a friend,i will be the one to leave. just give me a week i will leave after i figure out where to go and Tina you never really like me at the first place,so don't just give the excuse that you want me out of this house because i said i love Tunde. what about you that said you love Desmond has Georgina strangle you to death?no;you are still living(tears fall down her eyes) if i never did tell you that am in love with Tunde will you have know?definitely not. you had thought me to always keep the truth and tell the entire world the lies but i still want to tell you am sorry(exit)
Tina: keep your sorry to yourself
Anita: Stephanie wait
Tosan: Tina;you are one wicked soul that your heart is made of block
Tina: i know that i am wicked but i don't need you to tell me

Anita: looking at the wickedness of men doesn't change anything,so you don't have to worry over what Tina said. she is just overreacting
Stephanie: cone to think of it;i did her wrong but her reaction is just too much for her to want to take my roof over my head. i did bad but this is the height of her hatred for me. i just can't believe it but i have to leave
Anita: you want to leave?what do you tell your mom and sister is making you leave because you are in love with your flatmate friend?your sisters will kill you, especially aunt Nancy and Peace
Stephanie: i don't know but i have to leave before do that i will want to clarify myself because i don't know i have this strong feelings that i may not be allow to come back to school again
Anita: what do you mean
Stephanie: i don't know but i have to set things straight and i don't want Desmond to remain mad at me

Desmond: why are you packing up?last night you did not return home and now you are packing your bags
Tunde: am leaving
Desmond: what do you mean you are leaving
Tunde: i just can't sharing same roof with you
Desmond: i don't understand;what is my offence
Tunde: your offence(he pushed him at the chest)is that you are always on my way
Desmond: is that why you are pushing me
Tunde: i will do that again and again
Alfred: what you are doing is not right. is not his fault that Tina fall in love with him. so dont take it out on him
Tosin: is not that bad,you lose one and you gain someone else. after all Stephanie is in love with you
Tunde: i don't care;i am leaving
Ayo: your leaving still show that you are not really in love with Stephanie
Tunde: i am leaving because i want to face my life because i know Desmond is in love with Stephanie and i don't stand the chance of winning Desmond in anything
Jackson: nobody is leaving
Desmond: dad(he hugged him)(enter all girls)
Jackson: yes my son
All girls: good morning sir
Jackson: morning
Rose: what are you doing here
Stephanie: am sorry ma;i didn't come here to cause any problem;i just want to tell Desmond something
Jackson: let her be. you can stay
Stephanie: thank you sir
Jackson: and Tunde why are you leaving?
Tunde: i just couldn't stand Desmond anymore dad
Rose: you see how worthless you are;you even had to have problems with your brother
Jackson: thank God i decided to visit you,is this how you leave your life here?now tell me what you both are quarrelling about?
Desmond: nothing dad
Jackson: nothing?and he said he is leaving?Alfred why don't you tell me
Alfred: sir;i think Tunde is in the right position to tell you sir
Jackson: i no longer want to hear it from them
Alfred: Tunde's fiancee is in love with Desmond and Stephanie is in love with Tunde
Jackson: so you are fighting because of girls
Rose: i said it;that Stephanie is a bad girl and a worthless girl
Jackson: which of the girls are you talking about
Alfred: is Stephanie and Tina(he point at them)
Jackson: why will you be in love with two brothers, don't you know what you are doing is wrong?
Tina: i know sir;what i did was wrong. am really sorry sir
Jackson: and Desmond i never knew you to be crazy over women and all of a sudden you start chasing women and you even want to Destroy your relationship with your brother
Rose: why won't he?when of all the girls in this wild world he had to pick an empty brain that want to rip where she did not sow. stupid girl;i know you don't love my son,you are only after his money
Stephanie: that is not true ma
Tina: but that was what you said;right?

Stephanie: yes;i said that but that is not true(Rose pushed her to the floor and slapped her)ma,believe me,what i am saying is the truth. i know what i did was wrong but what Tina is saying is not true(tears roll her eyes)
Rose: you are a prostitute (she pull her by her hair)
Stephanie: ma;you are hurting me(she continue pulling her hair)
Desmond: mom;you are hurting her,let her go(he held his mother hand)
Rose: let me be. why should i let her go?when she is devil;a monster and a gold digger(she push her to the floor)
Jackson: let her go
Rose: just thank your star
Jackson: my daughter come and sit close to me and wipe your tears
Stephanie: thank you sir(she wipe her tears)
Jackson: is alright;what do you have with my son?
Stephanie: nothing sir;we are just friends
Jackson: i don't mean now. what i meant was before now?
Stephanie: we were having an affair but we breakup a long time
Jackson: i want the truth
Desmond: dad;that is the truth
Jackson: if you don't tell me the truth,i will disinherit you;i will not spend anything on you and even any member if my will including my mom
Desmond: dad;what truth do you want to hear?
Jackson: i really dont know you any more. you are such a liar. now Alfred go call me the security man to throw this boy out of my house
Alfred: but sir;he is telling you the truth
Jackson: i said go and call me the security
Alfred: please sir
Rose: will you keep quiet and go out
Georgina: why don't you tell your dad the truth?
Desmond: what truth do you want me to tell him?
Tina: tell him that you are still dating Stephanie,so you can save your inheritance
Desmond: you have a problem with your brain . i thought you said you will still love me even without money?then why are you so concern about my inheritance (enter security) dad;tell them to leave
Jackson: then tell me the truth
Desmond: i can't because i made a promise not to
Jackson: no problem;security take him away and drop my car key,i gave it to you and the phone you are using;your credit card(Desmond drop everything)so you are will to forgo everything instead of telling you the truth

Desmond: am sorry dad;i can't break my promise and i don't want to hurt her
Rose: Security take him away(he pull him up)worthless boy
Stephanie: wait;i will tell the truth
Desmond: don't
Anita: what are you doing?
Stephanie: i will;don't even try to stop me
Tosan: don't tell you are assuredly dating him?
Stephanie: i am sorry all
Desmond: Stephie;please don't(he pull her closer)mom;will call you names, she will disrespect you more
Stephanie: i don't care because i can't bear to see you on the street without a roof over your head and food on your table
Desmond: but am not complaining. i can manage
Stephanie: i want to set you free
Anita: you don't have to sacrifice your happiness for someone else

One lady was about
to go and take her
bath, she wrapped only towel on her body.
Immediately she
carried the bucket of
water to go to the
bathroom, she heard
a voice shouting
outside her
compound. So she
dropped the bucket
and ran outside to see the problem.
Unfortunately, it was
her sister that left
years ago. She came
with her 1month old
baby. As she saw
them, she shouted
with joy and ran with
great happiness to
welcome them.
Everybody around
her house came out
to see what's
happening. She
carried the baby and
threw her up on the
air with joy.
Immediately she did
that, her towel untied
and she was
completely naked in
the public while the
1month old baby is
still on the air!
If you are the
woman, which 1 will
you protect first at that point? the
child or your
nakedness?
Say the truth.. And
reasons

Akpos had just gotten a new
sports car and was out for a
drive when he accidentally
cut off a trailer driver. He
motioned for Akpos to pull
over. When Akpos did, he
got out of his trailer and
pulled a piece of chalk from
his pocket. He drew a circle
on the side of the road and
gruffly commanded Akpos,
"Stand in that circle and
DON'T MOVE!"
He then went to Akpos car
and cut up his leather seats.
When he turned around,
Akpos had a slight grin on
his face, so the trailer driver
said, "Oh you think that's
funny? Watch this!"
He gets a baseball bat out of
his trailer and breaks every
window in Akpos' car. When
he turns and looks at Akpos,
he has
a smile on his face. He is
getting really mad. He gets
his knife back out and slices
all Akpos' tires. Now Akpos is
laughing.
The trailer driver is really
starting to lose it. He goes
back to his trailer and gets a
can of gas, pours it on
Akpos' car and sets
it on fire. He turns around
and Akpos is laughing so
hard, he is about to fall
down.
"What's so funny?" the
trailer driver asked the
Akpos.
Akpos replied, "Every time
you weren't looking, I
stepped outside the circle!"

***CONTINUE PART ****

Days pass and weeks passed but she never
seen to know if I exited, it was like i
always seat next to her but she can't even
see me,not even an hi or hello, she never
gets up from her sit until I leave, i know
as a guy i should make the first move but in
this case it was different,i wasn't sure if
she needed a friend or not and i really don't
want to be embarrassed, osazee, osaretin and
osayewenre seems to be having fun in teasing
me about the whole thing, they bring up the
issue at every giving time they have this make
me feel less a man,but come to think of it how
can a beautiful girl like that will be sitting
next to me everyday and yet I haven't said a word
to her for me that was unusual,i felt that wasn't
me,i was a goal getter when I want something I try
to get it but this was different i wanted her but
I just don't know how to go about it,we later got
to find out her name through the teachers that
come to our class, her name was imade omorodion.
It was about 1pm on Saturday night,i, osazee,
osaretin and osayewenre was on mid night call,
we were on conference call,we always do
conference call every Saturday night,the
idea was brought by osaretin, i have asked
him once why we have to conference our call
every Saturday he told me that because it
the nicest day in all the week i wonder
how a Saturday will be the nicest day in a
week, only him knew what he meant by that,
the conversation was going on well when
osaretin suddenly asked a question that
made every body silent, "you non hear waytin
i talk" he added,"une think say I non fit get
that girl abi,ne because say I non just dey
interested for her matter ne make i non dey
look her side " i lied,seriously i must be a
fool if I thought they could buy that lie,
they all disagree with me at once,i tryed
to make them drop the topic but I was only
adding to it,our argument took another turn
and this time they were serious about the whole
thing "i non wan f**k that girl,i non want just
do am,"i said, "you don dey f**k up ne oooo,i
non dey understand you,ne because say ne you
dey close to imade ne make we choose you oooo,
non con dey behave like that ooooo" osayewenre
said angryly,i know you will be wondering why
my friends will me froceing me to do something
like that, well that is one of the things I got
myself into when I made friends with them,it
was like a tradition to us,we are not allowed
to have girlfriends because we believe women
will separate us,when we have any girl in our
mind we have s*x with her and we gist about
it sometime we could have round s*x with her
without her knowledge, yes it happens, we
invite her over, get her drunk, then have
our turns on her,we do this with the light
off so when she wakes up she will think you
had round on her, that to us was fun,but now
my case was different they only want me to
have sex with her and i could tell them the
gist and we will all laughed about it,i never
wanted to do anything with her not because
I don't want to but because I thought she was
too gentle for that, even if i am able to convince
osazee and osayewenre i wouldn't convince osaretin,
osaretin is a very difficult friend to follow,
he always like things to go his own way, people
that know us well would think we are cultist
and he is our boss,he was hard as rock and
the stubborn one among us,he have the final
say in every decision we make, that is because
he was the one that taught us almost all the
evil things we know how to do,like drinking,
smoking, womanising, clubbing, i know what you
are thinking, yes I do club how you mean, well
my parents sometimes travel to the village on
weekends,i sometimes lie to oduwu that I am
going to osazee house to spend the night that
we have some reading to do,as far as it involves
osazee my sister have no say,she was dating
osazee older brother and wants me to keep
it a secret it wouldn't be okey for my
parents if they knew she has a boyfriend,
and for the rest things we do them on daily basis.
It was through osaretin i meant the girl
that I had my first knowledge of a woman with,
i was just in Jss3 then when he did his 16 years
birthday, i attended the occasion, it was there
that he introduced me to a girl name Sarah, she
was older then me,he took us to his room and
whisper in her ear,he then told me to have fun
and left us,i must confuse she was beautiful,
i was sitting on the bed starring at her,she
smiled back as if she was what was on my mind,
she walked up to me bent down in front of me,
we didn't have any conversation we will just
look at each other and then smile,i couldn't
explain how i was feeling that day,i thought
it nice to stop but I just felt it will be
fun to at least know what the feeling will be,
she unzipped my trouser and brought out my d**k,
she then put it in her mouth, it's felt like
I was in paradise on earth, believe me s*x is
good, she continued for like three minutes then
stop, she got up pull off my clothes and also
took hers off,for the first time in my life
i have seen a woman naked unlike the once I
watched on movies, she came on me riding me
cow girl style, the excitement was killing me
She continues for some minutes before I
started to feel like I want to pee,i told
her that I needed to pee but she smiled
and said I should pee inside of her,i did
and she got up and went to the bathroom
that was when I knew i just cum, ever
since that day i never saw Sarah again.
I have had sex with numerous number of
girls since that day but not once have i
had a girlfriend, not because I don't want
to have a girlfriend but because of the
rules of our friendship, i have tryed to
separate myself from them but I just
couldn't stop myself from associating
with them,up till today i haven't found
the reason for that,osaretin doesn't
like no for an answer, after enough
pressure from my friends i had no option
but to agree to their request, now my goal
was to make lmade my friend and the have
sex with her,it was as easy as that.

Should i continue

A blonde got a job at a local bar. On her first day she was late to work. Whe she arrives at work the bartender asks her as she walks in the door.

“How come you’re late?”

“It was awful,” she explains. “I was walking down the street and there was this terrible accident. A man was lying in the middle of the street; he was thrown from his car. His leg was broken, his skull was fractured, and there was blood everywhere. Thank God I took that first-aid course; all my training came back to me in a minute.”

“What did you do?” asks the bartender.

“I sat down and put my head between my knees to keep from fainting!”Related

I had always looked at myself as a child of promise. Even my mom use to say it; That when I was born, the chief Iman of Ilorin came and prayed for me. He prophesied into my life that I will do well and achieve great things at a very young age. He also said that my parents will be elevated. But now am wondering what has gone wrong about those prophesies? What is holding them back? Why has it not come to pass. The worse part of it is that my dad died when I was 5. The elevation prophesy sef, even if say e come, na only my mama go come chop inside! Or maybe the gods are punishing my family because we later converted from Muslim to Christian religion!
All that were my thought. My heart was bitter. I just dey regret. Na who send me go write JAMB! Na who send me go even write the FUNAAB Post UTME! If I had known I would have saved that money and use it for better things as my mother had suggested. I no hear. Na so I use the money go write JAMB. And that would be the second time I was writing JAMB and passing through, yet no money for tuition fees. No money to further. I wrote one the previous year and choose University of Ibadan. I passed the Jamb but there was no common N3000 to process my Post UTME. Chaiiii, poverty bad. I encouraged myself. My mom had earlier said I should give up on going to school, that there was no money to see me through. Yes, I saw her point but I was hoping for a miracle to happen. I was just believing that I would just see a tree full of money and start plucking them. Or maybe meeting a helper that would say, “Let me just train you through your higher institution.”
I had saved up to N45, 000 the past year. I gave my best at where I worked just to see I save money for my school. My mom who was into Akara business. She had been complaining about her eye problem. Out of the N45,000, I gave her N12,000 to go for treatment. Money don short nah. But I was determined that I won’t lose that admission. I must enter university this time. No going back, whether money dey or not.
That was how my mom nearly closed down her Akara business that she was raising fund for me to go to school. She borrowed N27, 000 from the cooperative group she was. Plus the one I had. I went to Federal University Of Agriculture Abeokuta (Funaab), paid my admission acceptance fee, school fees and other fees. We never even start to dey talk accommodation sef. The guy I was squatting with had graduated and he was leaving the room the next weekend. I had earlier asked if he would leave some few things for me. He said he couldn’t, that he needed money badly so he wants to sell them. Even if the guy leave am for me, how I wan take pay for accommodation sef! He has really tried. I met him when I came to write my post UTME. I didn’t even know anybody in Abeokuta. But he was God sent. He harboured me for 4 days and I still came back, he was still harbouring me. He said the rent would be due the next two weeks.
So after paying the necessary fees, I had to go back home to sort myself on accommodation and feeding, refresh and come back to campus fully the next week to resume.
When I got home, things were not so good at all. My mom was down with malaria. I know say she go don dey think how she go take pay back the money wey she borrow from cooperative. And even her crumbling business, coupled with all the irony of life. I only had N430 left with me at that moment inside my pocket. I had to rush to the chemist shop to get my mom drugs. I called one of our relatives in Offa and updated her on what was happening to my mom.
3 days later, it seemed my mom was recovering gradually. I withdrew the last N5, 000 in my account and went to buy provisions and food stuffs. There was nothing much at home. At least, even if say person poor, that does not mean say we no go chop better food.
A day before travelling back to Abeokuta, I went to the place I worked before leaving. My former Oga wey like me wella. He gave me N2,000. I told him I was going back to school. Some of my paddies still dash me small money. I calculated everything and it amounted to N3, 450.
“Gbadebo! Gbadebo!!” my mom called. I was outside chatting with a friend when he called. I came into the room. “Gbadebo,” she said. “Ma,” I answered. She brought out some squeezed naira notes from the edge of her wrapper were she tied it. She handed them over to me. I counted them and It was N3, 500. “Kosi owo. Manage elei.” She said I should manage it that there was no money. Infact, she even tried. I couldn’t say anything. As I took the money, I went to bed to sleep, thinking of how my 4 year journey would look like in Funaab with my poverty condition.
The next morning, I arranged my only travelling bag, which doubles as my school bag. I only had few clothes which I inserted into the bag, with the only foot wear I had, my pam slippers, na im I go wear go back. “I am going to school.” person wey see me go think say I dey joke. Na only 2 trousers and 5 shirts wey I get I put inside my bag. I didn’t have time to buy many things because I was saving to go to school. The only mobile phone we had, a small touchlight phone. I had to leave it with my mom. I told her I would be calling from a business center. It was better for me that way so I could be reaching out to her rather than me taking the phone to school.
I looked my mom into the eye as I was about leaving for the park. She looked worried seeing me leave. “I guessed she was worried how I would cope.” I hugged her and left to the park where I would be boarding a car to Ibadan. As I entered one of the cars going to Ibadan, I wasn’t happy. My heart was filled with too many weird thoughts that I didn’t even know when the car got filled up, I paid and we left.
On the road to Ibadan, “I thought about my life.” After paying for my transportation, I was only left with N4,450. We never get to Ibadan ooo. I have not even talked about my accommodation. Where will I even stay? How will I feed sef? And I go even pay transport go school. As all those thoughts were flipping through my mind, tears ran down my eyes. The woman sitting close to me was the one that even called my attention. She asked what was wrong with me that I shed tears. And we were sitting at the front seat opposite the driver. I had to bring out my handkerchief from my pocket and whipped my face. I don’t even know what to tell the woman. I wished she was Jesus that could just take my burden away. Well, I told her that it’s just some family related issues that was making me shed tears. “Family issues keh!” she said. She spoke in Yoruba language. She asked what kind of family issue was that. I no wan tell her. One don’t just go around telling people their problems. I felt reluctant telling her. “Part of me said I should open up to her while another part of me said I should not. She seemed to be asking genuinely but she’s just a random person. Even if I tell her, will she adopt me or give me N1m.” I just told her that the money I was giving to for my school was not enough. Immediately I said that, almost every one inside the car busted into laughter. Part of me was like, “You see, you see wetin I tell you. You should have not told her.” I began regretting saying it out. The woman laughed uncontrollable in a mocking tone. “Is that the family problem,” she asked. She said there are some people their own case was worse so mine was even not a case. By then, I just wished she knew more about my own case. As other people in the car were talking, some gisting and telling stories of how their children survive in higher institution. I just ignored them. “No be their own e dey me sef. I went back into deep thoughts that I didn’t even know when we got to Ibadan. The woman beside me called my attention when she was alighting. She was kind enough to give me N500. I accepted it graciously and thanked her as she told me not to cry. She left. Well, N500 will definitely go a long way.
Na so I take car wey dey enter Abeokuta. It dropped me in a popular spot called “Camp,” a road leading to Funaab. The place I am squatting.
When I got to the house where I was squatting. The guy don almost empty the house. He had almost sold everything in the room. The room was virtually empty. He said he was finally leaving that evening back to Lagos and the only thing he left for me was a wall hanger. The foam, he said some one was coming to pick it. Not quite long I came in, the person came and carried it. Na so everybody for the compound dey hail am as he dey leave. He said he had told the landlord that he was leaving. The rent was expiring the next 3 weeks and if I wasn’t going to renew, I should leave because the landlord na “No-nonsense” man.
Na so My guy com finally leave. I began thinking of how to raise N24, 000 for the room. And the house was arguably one of the cheapest and very neat in the area.
As I slept that night, i went into deep thoughts again. At a time I felt like just giving up and going back to Ilorin. But I just had to keep calm.
I told myself that I would try as much to be friendly with the neighbors since the original guy who owns the room had left. There were about 4 rooms in the compound. 3 rooms were occupied by thee females while the remaining one was occupied by my guy that left. I don’t really know much of the girls neither have I had a reasonable conversation with them except but one of them, Adaobi. When I was paying for my school fee and other registration, she congratulated me and welcomed me to Funaab. She said she was in 200Level. Na she be the only person wey I don talk to. The other two girls, I just dey greet them dey waka. But I knew that one of them was Emmanuella. Most times they do call her Nuella. And the other Bola. My guy used to call them by their names before he left.
The next morning, I woke up in the empty room. As my guy don waka make he go find him destiny. As I stood up, it looked as if my whole body was hit with hammer. Body dey pain me. That’s the danger of sleeping on ordinary floor. I brought out my tooth paste, took the remaining sachet water left from the one I drank the previous day. I went outside to brush my teeth. I saw Adaobi. I greeted her and she was just hailing me. “Fresher! Freshest fresher,” she asked when the matriculation would hold, and I told her. “I know you will be missing bode(my guy that had left),” she said. I laughed timidly. She was trying to be friendly as we talked. She asked when I would start buying things into the room. Hmmm, I didn’t even know how to reply her. “How I wished she knew my predicament.” “Even the house sef, I don’t have money to rent it. I just dey stay come dey hope say miracle go happen.” Well I told her that I would soon start buying my own things. As we were just talking, Bola came out of the room, “Gbadebo fresher, you have landed! Welcome to Alabata,” Bola shout and we laughed.
The first two weeks was very difficult for me. I was so worried about accommodation. I wanted to make good friends who could just help me out. I have heard that it was not easy getting some body to squat with. Though I had not been open up to any one. I can’t just go out and start telling random people my problem. I just want to make new and good friends I could confide in.” The empty house I was staying, the rent was nearing expiry day and I don’t know what to do. Adaobi was very helpful even though I was yet to tell her what I was passing through. When going to school, if I meet her at the mancot stand where the school costal big bus picks student to school. If we enter together, she would always pay for me. All that prompted me to open up to her one particular evening when she told me that the landlord of the house came and wanted to put new tenants. So they had asked me to vacate the place immediately since I wasn’t ready to renew bode’s rent.” Na so I begin tell her my challenges, how things be for house and I couldn’t even afford rent oo. Adaobi pitied and encouraged me. Infact she even gave me food that night o. I couldn’t even tell her to come stay with her. I felt it was gross. But she herself said she would have accommodated me but because of her boyfriend who normally comes around which won’t be good for their relationship.
This particular Wednesday which was the matriculations day. I didn’t even have the N1000 to pay for the matriculation gown. Na so I just sit don for house.
In the evening when Bola came to me and asked that I should give them my own matric package. I tell them say I no do anything ooo in terms of refreshment. Say money no dey. She said she was going to a friend’s own that invited her for matric party. She gave me her phone to help plug it when Emmanuella puts on her generator. And she left.
Na so Emmanuella on Gen oo. Na only her get Generator since my guy left. I and Emmanuella, we no dey too dey talk. Its just “Good morning! Good morning” that only brings us together.
As I knocked and entered her house with bola’s phone to charge it. As she saw me, na so this girl shout.
Emmanuella – Saaahh, what is this Ilorin native doctor doing in my house.
I began wondering who she was talking to. Na so I turn make I look whether anyone was at my back. But none. Na me this girl dey talk to ooo. She was referring to me as “Ilorin native doctor.” She started shouting and yelling at me and asked me to leave her room with my dirty, smelly, poverty cursed body. This girl come begin abuse me oo. She Said I am an insane destitute and looked like my sick mother in Ilorin. I wondered who told her that my mom was ill. I remembered confiding in Adaobi about my situation. So na so she go tell her. Na so water begin com out for my eye as I enter my empty room. I started thinking about my life. As I cried, I remembered it has been over a week I called my mom. I only had N400 with me. If that one finish, only God know were I go take get another money. I just wanted to hear my mom’s voice. Each time I was down she normally consoles me, encourages me even when I try to give up.
As I was sitting inside weeping, I heard adaobi calling my name from outside. I immediately wiped my eyes. I didn’t want anyone to know I was crying. She immediately came into the room. I guessed she was just coming back from school. She asked why I was just alone inside the room. I told her I was just resting. Even though I felt angered by what she had done, telling emmanuella some few things I told her about myself. “Only God knew how many people she had already told”. I asked Adaobi if she could spare me a few minutes from her airtime to call my mom, that’s if she has. She graciously gave me her phone and I called my mom. Mom told me she was feeling better. I love my mom to the core. She had always been my best friend and I do confide in her. During the course of the call, I told her how someone (Emmanuella) abused a hell out of me. She herself felt my pain. She encouraged me. I also told her that I was broke. Mommy tell me say house just dey empty and nothing dey house. Even if say I come, I no go see anything collect. But how I go take see money even come sef! After the call, I gave adaobi her phone and also Bola’s so she can go help her charge it at Nuella’s room. My guy that left had always said that nuella was very proud someone. “Maybe because she came from a well-to-do family. She feels she’s better than everyone else.” Well na so I stay for my poverty stricken empty room. After a while, I went out and bought 3 bottles of soft drinks. “ I thought that In as much I was poor, I don’t have money that does not mean I can’t do things for people”. Adaobi dey try for me wella. Bola too is doing well too. I got the bottles of drink and gave to Adaobi to share among Bola and nuella. I was only left with N130. At least I don do well to celebrate my matric. Few minutes later, Adaobi returned Nuella’s drink saying she said she wasn’t taking. Na so me drink the thing.
The next morning, I went to school a bit late. I met my departmental colleagues submitting one general course assignment to my Head of class (HOC). I had done mine but forgot it at home. Na so I rush come re-do the thing again. After doing it na so one guy see my procedures and answers. He asked how I got it because someone told him that the lecturer in charge had hinted them about the answers which was what I had. He said he had being going around but no one had gotten the exact answer the lecturer talked about except me. Me sef, I no sure say I dey class when the lecturer dey hint them answers. Na so this guy collect my book come do copy-n-paste. He copied what I wrote into his own booklet. He thanked me and went his way.
The next day, another lecturer gave us another assignment to submit the upper week.
The next week came and was about to submit my assignment to my HOC when I met the guy that copied my work the previous week. “Baba I don dey find you since,”...
what is he looking for me for??
